BCS International Diploma In Business Analysis

As an alternative to our Business Analyst level 4 programme, the Apprentice Academy can offer the BCS International Diploma as a commercial option to those individuals who want to complete the qualification only – without the apprenticeship elements.

The qualification is aimed at anyone working as a business analyst who wants to underpin their experience with an industry recognised professional qualification.

The BCS (Chartered Institute for IT/ British Computer Society) is an industry body with over 100,000 professionals throughout the world holding Business Analysis qualifications.

This course is delivered in real time, online, by our team of trainers.

The BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis incorporates:

  1. Foundation Cert in Business Analysis
  2. Practitioner Cert in Requirements Engineering
  3. Practitioner Cert in Business Analysis Practice
  4. Practitioner Cert in Modelling Business Processes
  5. A 50 minute oral exam to covert these certificates into the Diploma

  • Porters 5 Forces Model & PESTLE to analyse opportunities & threats.
  • The McKinsey 7S Framework to implement system changes.
  • The Business Change Lifecycle
  • The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) as a performance measurement tool.
  • The principles, features, & differences of Waterfall & Agile methodologies.
  • RACI charts & the Power/Influence grid to manage stakeholders & strategy.
  • The MOSCOW technique to prioritise requirements.
  • The use of customer journey maps, rich pictures, empathy & mind maps.
  • The POPIT model for creating a Target Operating Model.
  • Design Thinking to identify, explore & test solutions.
  • Time Value or Money (TVM) & Net Present Value (NPV) to assess business cases.
  • Using VMOST for the development & assessment of strategy.
  • Building UML activity models with partitions as a starting point for process improvement.
  • The Requirement Engineering (RE) framework to clarify the process for system improvements.
  • Using traceability to manage system changes.

The development programme includes:

Academy LIVE – Learners will attend a series of monthly one-day live online learning sessions facilitated by an experienced business analyst.

Membership & Online Learning Materials – Learners will be registered for BCS membership and will be given access to Pluralsight, a comprehensive e-learning library rich with assets, designed to enhance and support additional learning.

BCS Textbook – Learners will receive a hard copy of the BCS Business Analysis textbook (Fourth Edition) which will be posted to them.

Reflect & Recall Sessions – Learners will attend R&R sessions to support reflection and recall of models and tools learnt earlier in the course. This helps to embed knowledge and supports revision and exam preparation.

Cost and duration

This qualification will take 18 months to complete.

The cost is £2,750 + VAT which includes all the resources and exams outlined above. Exam re-sits are not included.
