The uptake for our Procurement Apprenticeship programme has grown substantially since its launch back in September, and it is only set to continue to grow into 2019. More and more companies are seeing the value of using their Apprenticeship Levy to upskill employees who are already in a procurement/purchasing function to develop and enhance pre-existing knowledge and skills.
Currently we have apprentices from Royal Mail, Aga Range Master, Office Depot, DB Cargo and Unipart, all benefitting from increased confidence, capability and competence within their job role.
Officially named the Commercial Procurement and Supply Apprenticeship, the programme includes the Level 4 Diploma with the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS). The programme is 18 months long and include 15 full day workshops delivered by industry professionals at study centres in Manchester, Sheffield, Doncaster, Birmingham and Nottingham. This is supported by one-to-one coach visits in the workplace from an experienced procurement professional.
Additionally, there are progression opportunities in the pipeline to develop a Level 6 Apprenticeship Standard to fully enable apprentices to achieve the internationally recognised MCIPS status, and being a licensed professional in procurement and supply.
Employers who are paying the Apprenticeship Levy can use their funds to pay for the apprenticeship training while generous funding is available to non-levy organisations. You can learn more about the Apprenticeship Levy here.
