NAW 2020 – What’s on at The Academy?

The annual National Apprenticeship Week 2020 (NAW) is here and we’re very busy at The Apprentice Academy. From careers fairs, events, drop-in sessions and training workshops, we will be joining the National Apprenticeship Service and many other training providers in celebrating the good that apprenticeships do!

The theme this year is ‘Look Beyond.’ With the goal being to ‘celebrate the diversity and value that apprenticeships bring to employers, apprentices and communities across England today.’

Below is a breakdown of what we will be up to from the 3rd February to the 7th:

Monday – Apprentice Stars Winners reveal day

We love success stories at The Academy. So much so, that every apprentice in a Future Talent cohort has a chance of winning the coveted Apprenticeship Star award. On day 1 of NAW, we will be revealing the first Apprentice Stars of 2020. If an apprentice consistently goes the extra mile, has a willingness to learn, achieves their targets and shows other signs of being a fantastic employee, they will be in with a chance of winning!

An apprentice star winner will be nominated by their line manager, who will complete a nomination form detailing why they think their apprentice is deserving of the prize.

We will reveal the winners on our social media feeds and the website!

Past award winners can be found at this link.

Tuesday – Exam day 2

19 of our Accounting Apprentices will be sitting their Bookkeeping Controls exam on Tuesday. Best of luck to them with their next exam, part of their journey to achieve valuable AAT Qualifications. Upon passing the Bookkeeping Controls exam, each apprentice will receive a foundation certificate in Bookkeeping, which is the first steppingstone in to achieving their Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship.

Wednesday – Workshops and Careers Fairs

On Wednesday, our Recruitment Manager Sam will be at Ashton Sixth Form for IAG drop-in sessions outside the career’s office from 11am to 2pm. She’ll be talking to the college students about the newest vacancies in Property Management, Finance and Business Administration.

Our Housing/Property Management expert trainer Steve will be delivering his fourth workshop with the first cohort on the programme. Apprentices from the likes of Peaks and Plains Housing Association, Oakland Residential, Estate Management Solutions and Northern Group will be in attendance. The workshop will cover topics like Fire and Safety, Insurance Regulations, Agency Legislation and Project Management.

A number of Accounting Apprentices who are later into their programmes will be sitting their Financial Statements of Limited Companies exam too.

Thursday – Drop-in sessions at Xaverian College

For Thursday the 6th, Jack and Sam from the Recruitment Team will be at Xaverian College in Rusholme between 12pm and 2pm for lunchtime drop-in sessions to provide guidance for the students who are looking at alternatives to University.

Also, more Accounting Apprentices will be sitting their Bookkeeping Controls exams.

Friday – Future Talent Recruitment Day

On the last day of National Apprenticeship Week, we will be running our first Future Talent Recruitment Day of the year! On these Recruitment Days, we provide extensive Information Advice and Guidance on becoming an apprentice, being an apprentice, the apprenticeship programme itself, the vacancies available and progression routes. We also match students for role suitability, looking at communication skills, employability skills, academic predicted grades, English and IT skills.

We have a full house for the Recruitment Day, but if you are interested in attending one, we have another a week later on the 13th February that you can book onto by clicking this link.

That’s what we are up to for National Apprenticeship Week 2020! Throughout the week, we will be posting apprentice success stories, pictures from workshops and careers fairs, and coverage from the Recruitment Day on our social media channels. Links to our feeds can be found here:
