Meet the Team: Dan Barrett – Recruitment Administrator

In our ‘Meet the Team’ series of blogs, we’ll be introducing you to some of the people that work here at The Apprentice Academy! The first person we’d like you to meet is our friend, Dan Barrett, our Recruitment Administrator.

You started work as an apprentice with us, why did you choose an Apprenticeship?

I originally started with a different employer called Homeform and I was there for about 6 months but the company went bankrupt and I lost my job. About a week later I started at The Apprentice Academy and carried on with my Apprenticeship. I originally left school and got straight into work in retail but decided I wanted to pursue a qualification as well as employment but didn’t want to go to college so an Apprenticeship was ideal for me. 😀

You’ve made fast progress since joining The Apprentice Academy, what do you enjoy most about your role?

I enjoy the fact that my role lets me interact with other people both inside the company and outside and I like the idea of helping people find jobs and getting their life journey started.

What’s an average day like?

Hectic haha but it’s always fun. Everyone gets along really well with each other and I’m good at my job because it’s something I’ve got a real passion for.

While doing your Apprenticeship, what did you find most challenging?

I often found that I could be a little TOO helpful and I’d spend a lot of my time helping others out and sometimes forgetting about other duties so organisation has always been a bit of a downfall of mine. I’m really more of a people person than a planning person.

What did you do before working at The Apprentice Academy?

I had a part time job in a retail store in Sale called Peacocks (glamorous I know…) but again it was a customer interaction side of things and I loved it. I also had a weekend job when I was 18 for a bar in town called BaaBar. Again, loved it but handling that on top of my job here began to get a little tough so I left my bar job and stuck to this one.

If you could describe yourself as a brand, which would it be and why?

McDonalds – Because no matter what happens or how bad things are I’m always “Lovin’ It”

If you were trapped on a desert island, what would you take with you?

Bear Grills so he could get me off the island

In the movie of your life, who would play you?

Channing Tatum / Michael Cera
