Our Brand Ambassador Jim has been out meeting with Francis Kirk’s apprentice Matthew.
“One of the best bits about my role is visiting the employers and seeing the apprentices in the workplace. Recently I met with Matthew, an Apprentice at Francis Kirk, a Denton based Engineering Company established nearly 150 years ago.” The reason for the visit was Matthew had been nominated for an ‘Apprentice Star’ award.
During Jim’s visit, Matthew showed him round Francis Kirk, as well as introducing him to the team.
Matthew started his Apprenticeship working within the warehouse; a role which enabled him to gain valuable product knowledge. His role has now evolved to include purchasing, with responsibility for liaising with over 130 different suppliers. He still continues in his sales role, looking after some of Francis Kirk’s largest key accounts. Matthew’s also had the chance to shine in other areas including working on a project to design their new logo.
Its clear Matthew is really enjoying what he does and is very much part of the Francis Kirk team.
‘I have so many aspects to my job, I never get bored as I am continually doing different things. One of the main reasons I love what I do is because I have 19 amazing colleagues to work with who are all willing to help me. During my Apprenticeship, I’ve learnt so much about the engineering profession. I’ve also learnt that if I put the effort in I can succeed at anything. From when I started my apprenticeship 19 months ago, to where I am now I think I’ve proved this to myself.’
We are confident Matthew has a brilliant career ahead of him and look forward to catching up in the future.
