What have been the major benefits of employing apprentices?

Employer: Alison Dwyer
Our apprentice Nathan brings with him digital attributes that we just don’t have in our business. He is a digital native and with his ability on a range of design software he brings innovation, enthusiasm and a new perspective.

Having someone who is so keen and a blank slate in terms of business culture and etiquette, we can share with him best practice and fully immerse him in our culture so that he is able to fulfil his potential aligned with our values, beliefs and productivity levels. He is also being trained in a new marketing methodology around inbound and PR, which will make him an unique asset to Smith & Smith.

What have you worked on for the company that people wouldn’t believe apprentices do?

Apprentice: Nathan Cousins
I have worked on the design of eBooks, the design of digital calls-to-action that I embedded into the website as well as the development of new brand identities. I am also working with a client in social media outreach.

The team here were aware of my digital capabilities but were amazed at how quickly I could take a new brief and execute it to deadline with little supervision. They also commented on how keen I am to learn and take on new jobs and challenges – nothing is too much for me. They do moan about the amount of biscuits I provide though!
