What have been the major benefits of employing apprentices?

Employer: Danny Simpson
The benefits have been major as we have taken 3 apprentices and all 3 have been a major impact in our business. One individual is a top salesperson in the business top five out of 62 people.

1 has moved into our IT and Ops dept and has built some new IT infrastructure that would have cost thousands to outsource and train. The third is completing some great marketing campaigns and adding real value at driving customers into our business. All three add value to the circle and heartbeat of our business. This is partly to the correct training, engagement and motivation.

What have you worked on for the company that people wouldn’t believe apprentices do?

Apprentices: Chris Hurst, Callum Lees, Marie Thurrold
Chris: Working at MID Comms as an apprentice has given me a lot of opportunities to list a few, I have delivered the company an intranet to house all the company information and to be a communications platform for the company to be one community.

Also while being an apprentice here I have had the opportunity to work with some amazing people on unbelievable projects, like producing the new CRM for the company’s business and consumer sections respectively. I did this using a cloud based product called salesforce which is known worldwide as the best CRM, with being involved with even more and having the opportunity to move the company forward with some of my own innovations.

Callum: I did a 13 mile run from the shop I work in Middleton to the Hyde o2 Shop as part of o2’s ‘think big’ campaign to raise money for o2’s charity in the UK

Marie: There is so much I’ve been involved with that I would never have thought I’d be doing. Having the responsibility to decorate the store for seasonal occasions and put on store openings and getting in contact with people higher up in the business as well as planning radio campaigns with Real Radio. At the moment I am in the process of organising the summer staff party with my area manager which I’d never thought I’d be doing, choosing a venue, setting the theme, decoration, deciding on the food menu and drinks, the entertainment for the night and scheduling the night which overall is a lot of responsibility.
