What have been the major benefits of employing apprentices?

The major benefits are that the apprentices are eager, enthusiastic and willing to learn new experiences and skills required to support the organisation’s business objectives and goals. They bring a fresh approach to the various teams asking questions to find out the reasons why certain processes, policies and practices are deployed within the business environment.

It helps the business be more structured in their approach to the ‘What’ and ‘How’ we do things and helps us look at various practices that may need changing to bring us out of the the norm and into new (young) ways of thinking. The apprentices are part of a team and are willing to team build at every opportunity to enhance their own confidence and support others in a helpful way.

Increase in confidence can be observed with the apprentices and thus in turn allows them to take on more responsibility and gain valuable experience in problem solving, communication and inter-personal relationships. All of which allows the business to gain confidence in delivering high standards of service to all its customers.

What have you worked on for the company that people wouldn’t believe apprentices do?

Directly answering customer complaints and queries (over the phone).Given the responsibility to resolve these in an efficient manner with the support of the team. Worked on building the customer experience by offering additional products to place a greater value on their holiday purchase.

Built rapport with customers and with all members in the organisation (at every opportunity) to feel and be valued as part of the ‘team’ i.e. feeling like I have Customer Service Consultants role not just seen as an apprentice.

Being part of this team I am rewarded the same team and individual incentive bonuses as all members of the service team regardless of length of service and experience; thus in turn makes me committed to delivering high standards of work 100% of the time and feel valued as an experienced member. Looked at and analysed a detailed report which provides the team with the information to offer additional products to existing customers holidays.
