What have been the major benefits of employing apprentices?

Employer: Jim Bradley
As an employer, the opportunity to have apprentices is one we are keen to promote and utilise. As well as providing valued support to any team we have found that they are very keen to learn new skills and have tended to hit the ground running, wanting more challenging and rewarding work. Arcon are keen to offer apprenticeships and will continue to do so going forward.

We also speak to contractors working on behalf of the association to encourage them to do the same and provide training in an industry where there is a large skills gap and shortage of skilled people. I personally have found the experience of employing apprentices very fulfilling and it is refreshing to see them grow in confidence whilst improving their skills set thereby helping them to move forward in future careers.

Apprentice: Hollie Bushill-Harris
I have worked for Arcon now for 2 months and in that time I have grasped the basic functions of the post. My role involves, raising repairs inspections and orders for maintenance work, answering the phone, creating spreadsheets and supporting the team on other works.

The thing that people wouldn’t believe that I do is that I am involved in the control of electrical inspections on Arcons homes. In future I will be updating asbestos information on the company’s database.
