This is an exciting opportunity for you to join a creative company which will be run under ‘The Sharp Project’ based in Manchester. It is home to over 60 digital entrepreneurs and production companies specialising in digital content production, digital media and TV and film production. Their aim and ambition is to diversify and grow Manchester’s digital sector, through attracting new entrepreneurs, new business start-ups, capital and talent within the city’s digital sector.
This is a start-up company running under ‘The Sharp Project’ which aims to help fuel Manchester’s ambition to be a city of digital enterprise, encouraging collaboration and innovation between SME’s and larger market leaders.
As the business continues to grow, they are looking to recruit x2 Accounts Apprentices to join their small but friendly team, to help support their growing workload. They are ideally looking for individuals with a genuine interest in business and finance, and someone who is competent and confident working with numbers.
About the role
- Assisting in the preparation of accounts
- Dealing with basic book keeping
- Processing and paying invoices
- Recording receipts and payments
- Preparing and checking ledger balances and other monthly and yearly accounts
- Assist with planning and budget control
- Assist completing and submitting tax returns, VAT returns and National Insurance contributions
- Handling employee expenses & reconciling company credit cards
- Using computerised accounting systems
The company have a strict location remit they need to recruit from, so if you do not hear from or are unsuccessful, this could be one of the reason.
Skills and experience
You will be expected to have achieved/predicted 5 GCSE grades A*-C including Maths and English.
In addition to the above, you will need to be confident with a pro-active attitude and excellent communication skills. You should have good attention to detail and be highly organised, with good ICT skills, particularly in the use of spreadsheets. You will also need to have the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and the capacity to understand and handle complex information.
You will receive an AAT Level 3 qualification, but will also cover Level 2 units and receive certificates in AAT Level 2 Bookkeeping and AAT Level 2 Computerised Accounts.
